A pull-from-anytime set, sorted by what it builds. Pick two or three per session — don't run them all.
Tee back in the stance, drive every ball to the opposite-field gap. Proves he can go the other way on purpose.
Coaching Cue
Cue: "Stay back, inside the ball."
Front Toss — The Two-Strike Swing
Every pitch a two-strike count: choke up, shorten, put it in play the other way. No big hack.
Coaching Cue
Cue: "Shorter, oppo, see it deep."
Half the tosses up out of the zone; he wins by laying off, not by swinging. Retrains the eyes on the chase pitch.
Coaching Cue
Cue: "The high one is a strikeout — let it go."
Fielding — routine footwork
Grounders to his glove side so he loops his path and fields moving through the ball, feet already working.
Coaching Cue
Cue: "Round it, field it out front, feet through it."
Field-and-Set, Then Throw
Routine grounders with one rule: no throw until the feet are set. The routine play has time.
Coaching Cue
Cue: "Slow feet, then throw."
Close-range short hops, soft hands, glove out front. Builds the trust that lets the feet stay calm.
Coaching Cue
Cue: "Give with it, glove out front."
After every rep, good or bad, step off, breathe, and cue "next pitch" before the next ball. Trains clearing the last play.
Coaching Cue
Cue: "Step off, breathe, next pitch."
Building a session: one approach drill, one footwork drill, and something competitive to close — an oppo game to a number, or a make-the-routine-play streak. Rotate which leads so no part of his game goes stale.
