Aiden's Week — A Quick Recap

A short read on the week that was, so nothing gets lost between sessions.

The headline

A good week. Two wall-ball sessions and a game, and the off-hand is starting to look real — he took a left-handed dodge in the game and finished it. The shooting is coming; he still winds up and rips it over the cage when he gets excited.

What we worked on

  • The off-hand — off-hand wall ball and dodge-and-finish. Way more comfortable going left than a month ago.
  • Shooting — corners, not cannons. Better when he's set, still rips it on the run.
  • Off the ball — V-cuts and give-and-gos. One goal off a cut after a pass — exactly the habit we're building.

What stood out

The left-handed finish in the game. A defender forced him left, and instead of forcing it back to his right he went left and buried it. A month ago that's a turnover.

For next week

  • Keep the off-hand reps first, before he's tired.
  • One game where he commits to picking a corner on every shot.
  • A pre-game both-hands warmup before Saturday.

One thing to keep an eye on: when a rep asks for his left, does he do it, or sneak it back to his right? And does he pick a corner, or just rip it? Those two are the tell for everything else.
