Jake's Week — A Quick Recap
A short read on the week that was, so nothing gets lost between sessions.
A good week. Two driveway sessions, one of them a long one in the heat that he pushed all the way through, and the floater kept looking more automatic. The left hand is still the project — real progress in drills, still bailed on once under game-speed contact.
- Floaters from the elbow and off the baseline drive — the release is getting earlier and softer, which is exactly the point.
- Hesitation — the cone-freeze drill. He's starting to trust the pause instead of fighting it.
- Left-hand finishing — volume work. Boring on purpose. It's getting there.
The attitude on the long session. It was hot, the guide hand kept drifting on his form shooting, and he stayed out there and fixed it instead of packing it in. That's the part worth remembering once the box score fades.
- Keep the left-hand reps first, before he's tired.
- One live rep at a time under a little contact, left side only.
- A pre-game routine run-through before Saturday.
One thing to keep an eye on: whether the knees stay bent when he resets between reps. If he's tall when he's waiting, he's tall when it matters.
