Marcus’s goal worksheet

A real one, built for one football kid from everything the parent had shared. Nothing here is demo copy.

Marcus's Goals — This Season Into Next

A working sheet, not a wish list. Each goal has a way to tell if it's actually happening — a goal you can't measure is just a hope. (And for a lineman, "measure" means film and effort, not stats.)

The big one

Turn size into craft — win the trenches with technique, not just strength. Why it matters: the size and toughness are already there; leverage and hands are what win up front.

  • How we'll know: on film, he's winning his individual battles — driving defenders, protecting the quarterback.
  • This week: stay low every rep; hands inside.

Technique goals

Win the leverage battle.

  • How we'll know: smaller kids stop getting under his pads — he's the low man.
  • This week: stay-low drive reps; pads under pads, bend the knees.

Land the hands inside.

  • How we'll know: the holding penalties dry up and he stops getting shed.
  • This week: punch-and-lock — inside, thumbs up, on time.

A faster get-off.

  • How we'll know: he's initiating contact off the snap instead of catching it.
  • This week: stance-and-get-off, firing on the count.

The one that isn't a skill

Finish every play to the whistle.

  • How we'll know: on film, he's still driving his man when the ball's long gone.
  • Nobody keeps a stat for this. But it's the identity of the position — and the thing that gets a lineman noticed.

Pick one target every time he trains or plays, put a number on it, and chase it. The goals don't move — the evidence stacks up. (And the evidence for a lineman lives on film, so watch it together.)
