Nina's Week — A Quick Recap

A short read on the week that was, so nothing gets lost between sessions.

The headline

A good week. Two court sessions and a match, and the second serve is starting to look like a weapon instead of a liability — more spin, more margin. The offense is coming; the push still sneaks back on the biggest points.

What we worked on

  • The second serve — kick-serve spin reps. She's brushing up the ball and clearing the net with margin more consistently.
  • Playing offense — big-point simulations. Better, but she still gets tentative on true break points.
  • The reset — the between-points routine held after a double fault in the match. Small, but that's the whole thing.

What stood out

The point she lost at 30-40 in the second set — she went for her shot, played offense, and lost it, then ran her routine and held the game. Losing a big point the right way is exactly the mental win we're after.

For next week

  • Keep the second-serve reps first, before she's tired.
  • One practice set where every big point is played on offense, no matter what.
  • A pre-match routine run-through before Saturday.

One thing to keep an eye on: on the pressure points, does she keep swinging through the ball, or does the swing get short and tentative? The swing is the tell for everything else.
