Malik's Week — A Quick Recap
A short read on the week that was, so nothing gets lost between meets.
A good week. Two speed sessions and a meet, and the drive phase is starting to look real — he stayed low out of the start instead of popping up. The relaxation is coming; he still tenses up in the actual race even though it's clean in practice.
- The start — wall drives and falling starts. Driving out low and patient far more than a month ago.
- Relaxation — build-ups, soft hands and face. Loose in practice, still presses under the gun.
- Finishing — form-under-fatigue runs. Held his form better in the back half of the 200.
The 100 he ran relaxed at the meet. He stayed loose the whole way and PR'd — felt like he barely tried. A month ago that's a straining, pressing race that felt fast and wasn't.
- Keep the drive-phase work first, while he's fresh.
- One race where he commits to staying loose the whole way, even if it feels like he's not trying.
- Full recovery between everything — no grinding.
One thing to keep an eye on: out of the start, does he stay low or pop up? At top speed, are his hands and face loose? And when he's tired, does he hold his form? Those are the tell for everything else.
