Cheer Strength & Conditioning Practice Plan for 11 and 12 Year Olds

At 11 and 12, the engine takes ROUTINE shape: intervals mirroring performances (ninety-second mixed rounds: the routine's honest length), jump-strength CIRCUITS (squats, lunges, landing banks: the flight's funding), core ENDURANCE (the press laddering), and the culture's maturity (counted, loud, positive: the team's voice owned).

This session runs about an hour. Rest discipline turns honest (routines earn their recoveries), the growth spurt trims kindly, and the sport's reality shapes the intervals: routines are ninety seconds of everything: the engine builds in that exact shape.

Practice Plan

Music Session: Routine Shape

Intervals wear the routine's length, circuits fund the flights, and the press learns endurance. The engine builds in the mat's own shape.

Warmup · 10 minutes

Full Ramp

Duration10 minEquipmentmusic

Spirit bounces, animals, squat depth easy, garden visits, approach rituals. The routine-shaped engine warms.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Ramp for ninety-second truths."

Block 1: Routine Intervals · 20 minutes

Ninety-Second Rounds

Duration20 minEquipmentmusic, timer

The shape: 90 seconds of continuous mixed work (spirit bounces, motion hits, tuck jumps, climbers: a routine's honest chaos), 60 seconds rest, three rounds (counts chanted through), work counted per round, the falloff logged. Routines are ninety-second everythings; the engine rehearses exactly that.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Ninety of everything, rest like the mat's edge. Round three is the routine."

Block 2: Flight Funding · 20 minutes

Jump-Strength Circuits

Duration12 minEquipmentcarpet

The funding rounds: squats (deep, ten), lateral lunges (five per side), squat-jumps stuck (four), seat-drop lifts (the jump file's drill visiting, six), two rounds chanted. The flights' accounts, deposited in circuit.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Deep, wide, stuck, lifted. The toe touch's bank runs on circuits."

Landing Banks

Duration8 minEquipmentcarpet

The glue's deposits: tuck and star jumps stuck (five mixed, silent-glued-held), lateral bounds stuck (three per side: the growth window's insurance arriving), graded eternally. Cheer's landings compound here.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Every landing a deposit. The bank pays at competitions."

Block 3: The Press's Ladders · 10 minutes

Core Endurance

Duration10 minEquipmentcarpet

The ladders: hollow holds climbing (fifteen, twenty, twenty-five), rocks between, side planks (twenty per side), bird-dogs slow. The rotation bank learns routine lengths.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Climb the press. Routines borrow long."

Finish · 0 minutes

Rally and Book

Durationinside closeEquipmentthe log

The cheer (team-voiced), the book (intervals' falloff, circuit counts, ladder times) filed. Routine shape logs.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Rally loud, book flat."

What to watch today: the falloff's honesty across rounds. The routine-shaped engine's whole value is round three's truth (performances are third-round events), and rest-cheating or count-inflating hides exactly what needs building. Loud, honest, and rested: the culture's three words, engine edition.

Common questions

Why ninety-second intervals for cheer?

The routine's length: competitive routines run about two-and-a-half minutes with jump-motion-cardio chaos throughout, and ninety-second mixed rounds at this age build the exact engine in its exact shape. The falloff across three rounds is the mat's honest forecast.

What is the landing bank and why lateral bounds now?

The glue's strength account: stuck landings (tucks, stars, bounds) deposit the absorption and alignment cheer's constant landings spend, and lateral bounds add the growth window's knee insurance (the teenage years' non-negotiable, arriving). Silent-glued-held, graded forever.

How does home conditioning respect team programs?

As the between-funding: teams condition in their cultures and volumes, and the home engine deposits foundations (strength, the press, landing banks) without doubling burns. Heavy team weeks trim home automatically: the accounts compound on the pairing, never the pile.
