Ella’s goal worksheet

A real one, built for one field hockey kid from everything the parent had shared. Nothing here is demo copy.

Ella's Goals — This Season Into Next

A working sheet, not a wish list. Each goal has a way to tell if it's actually happening — a goal you can't measure is just a hope.

The big one

Become a complete, two-sided midfielder — one a defense can't force one way. Why it matters: the stick skills are already there; being one-sided is what good defenders exploit.

  • How we'll know: a game where a defender forces her reverse and she plays out of it and makes them pay.
  • This week: reverse-stick reps; when forced left, play out of it.

Skill goals

A reverse stick she'll use.

  • How we'll know: she receives and hits off her reverse in a game without panicking back to her open side.
  • This week: reverse-stick receiving and hitting against the wall.

Receive on the move.

  • How we'll know: a reception where her first touch takes her into space, already going.
  • This week: lead-and-receive reps, both sides.

The reading goal

Read the field early.

  • How we'll know: a play where she anticipated the switch and got there before the ball.
  • This week: scan-and-switch — look before the ball arrives.

The one that isn't a skill

Stay two-sided under pressure.

  • How we'll know: a tight game where she keeps using both sides instead of shrinking to her strong one.
  • Nobody claps for this one. It's the habit underneath every other goal on the page.

Pick one target every time she plays or trains, put a number on it, and chase it. The goals don't move — the evidence stacks up.
