Sydney’s drill library

A real one, built for one volleyball kid from everything the parent had shared. Nothing here is demo copy.

A pull-from-anytime set, sorted by what it builds. Pick two or three per session — don't run them all.

Hitting — approach & timing

Approach Footwork — No Ball

The 4-step approach, slow, last two steps quick and big. Same rhythm every rep so the feet stop being a guess.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Slow, slow, quick-quick — same every time."

Timing to the Toss

Read the set and start the approach to rise as the ball arrives. Fixes both early (long/blocked) and late (net) errors.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Wait for it, then explode."

High-Point Hitting

Contact at the highest reachable point, arm extended. Turns netted and long balls into kills.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Reach up and hit down."

Serve-receive

Platform to Target

Controlled passes to the setter's spot — control over power. Keeps her in the offense.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Shape it early, shoulders to target."

Move-Then-Pass

Serves to either side so she moves her feet and sets the platform before the ball. Kills the on-the-move shank.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Feet first, then a still platform."

The mind

Error-Then-Reset

After every rep, good or bad, reset the same way — clap, eyes up, ready position. Keeps two errors from becoming five.

Coaching Cue

Cue: "Clap it, eyes up, next ball."

Building a session: one approach drill, one serve-receive drill, and a full pass-approach-swing sequence to close. Rotate which leads so no part of her game goes stale.
