Sydney's Week — A Quick Recap

A short read on the week that was, so nothing gets lost between practices.

The headline

A good week. Two practices and a match, and the approach is starting to look repeatable — she's meeting the ball higher and cleaner. The serve-receive is coming; it still gets shaky when she has to move to the ball.

What we worked on

  • The approach — footwork and timing to the toss. Same rhythm more often than not now.
  • Serve-receive — platform to target. Better standing still, still reaching on the move.
  • The reset — two errors in the match followed by a clean, aggressive swing. Small, but that's the whole thing.

What stood out

The kill off a bad set in the second game — same approach, met it high, tooled the block. A month ago that's a ball into the net or a tentative tip.

For next week

  • Keep the approach footwork first, before her legs are tired.
  • One set where she commits to the same approach every swing, no matter the pass.
  • A pre-match routine run-through before Saturday.

One thing to keep an eye on: after an error, does her energy stay up and the reset hold, or does her level dip? Her body language is the tell — and the whole team reads it.
