Sydney’s goal worksheet

A real one, built for one volleyball kid from everything the parent had shared. Nothing here is demo copy.

Goal Worksheet

Sydney's Goals — Spring Into Fall

A working sheet, not a wish list. Each goal has a way to tell if it's actually happening — a goal you can't measure is just a hope.

The big one

Turn the weapon into a reliable one — the big swing every rotation, not just the highlights. Why it matters: the arm is already there; what's missing is showing up consistently.

  • How we'll know: a match where her hitting errors are low and the kills are spread across all three sets.
  • This week: approach footwork every session; same approach whether the set is perfect or not.

Skill goals

A repeatable approach and high contact.

  • How we'll know: she meets the ball high on a bad set and still gets a kill.
  • This week: timing-to-the-toss reps; high-point hitting.

Serve-receive she can trust.

  • How we'll know: she passes clean in the toughest rotation, not just when it's easy.
  • This week: platform-to-target; move-then-pass reps.

The mental goal

A couple of errors stay a couple of errors.

  • How we'll know: two mistakes in a row followed by a clean, aggressive next ball — not a tanked set.
  • This week: the "clap it, next ball" reset after every miss.

The one that isn't a skill

Keep her energy up.

  • How we'll know: after a rough set, her body language looks the same as after a great one.
  • Nobody claps for this one. But her whole side of the net feels it — it's the habit underneath every other goal.

Pick one target every time she plays or trains, put a number on it, and chase it. The goals don't move — the evidence stacks up.
